English is used as the primary language of instruction at METU Northern Cyprus Campus. Hence, in order to enroll in the degree program they have been accepted into, students must submit the results of an approved English proficiency test. Students are enrolled in a one-year English Language Preparation Program if their level of English proficiency falls short of what METU requires.

As for the undergraduate programs, the English proficiency of students who are nationals of countries whose official language is English and/or those who have attended and graduated from institutions of secondary education that nationals of those countries attend is evaluated by the School of Foreign Languages Administrative Board.

The minimum passing score of METU English Proficiency Examination (METU-EPE) is 60 for all METU undergraduate programs, except for the Dual Diploma Programs with State University of New York (SUNY) campuses and for the TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) program. The minimum passing score for the TEFL program is 70.

METU-EPE can be taken on campus and is held at the beginning and the end of the fall semester of each academic year at fixed dates. You may check the dates from the METU NCC academic calendar (https://ncc.metu.edu.tr/academic-calendar).
